Chicken Processing Workshop
Join us for a hands-on workshop to learn how to process your own meat chickens.
Date: Saturday, April 26th
Time: 10am to 3pm
Cost: $75 per family
We will discuss the raising and care of meat breed chickens, the differences between meat and layer breeds, the equipment and tools needed to slaughter, eviscerate, and package your own chickens, and then demonstrate that process before having attendees participate.
Participation will be up to the individual. It can be difficult for some people, and we also want to ensure that the chickens are handled safely and humanely during the entire process.
We will factor in some breaks and a lunch time depending on the number of attendees.
Each family will receive a freshly processed chicken for their own freezer as part of the workshop. Additional chickens can be purchased if desired.
We Will Provide:
We will provide all tools and equipment necessary, bottled water, and a snack. A bathroom is available.
What You Will Need:
Closed toed shoes, a hat, weather appropriate clothes that might get bloody, a lunch, and a cooler to transport a processed chicken home in.
Biosecurity Measures: To maintain biosecurity and protect our flock and yours, please don't wear the same shoes that you wear to take care of your own flock.
Registration: Email us at moonrisehollow@gmail.com to sign up! Payment required to reserve your spot.
